Why memorize the Bible?
-it gets the truth into our hearts, minds and mouths. We will be speaking the truth and saying it over and over again. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
-to overcome sin. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. . . . I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” Psalm 119:9, 11
-to encourage others and be ready to share your faith- even when your Bible is not with you!
Here are a few tips that may help you as you memorize.
1. Read the verse(s) out loud 3 times every day.
2. Write the verse(s) on a sticky note or card and put them in a place where you will see them throughout the day such as on the fridge, bathroom mirror or computer monitor.
3. Add it to a routine that you are already doing. Try to say the verse(s) at breakfast or before you brush your teeth.
